Following Zip World’s continued growth, an examination of the existing facilities was necessary in order to manage the ever-increasing footfall through a dated and compartmentalised visitor centre. After the scheme received full planning permission, C4 Projects undertook the detailed design and construction phases of the scheme.

The existing visitor centre has undergone a full refurbishment and modernisation with a sympathetically designed entrance porch to maximise guest engagement. The bespoke design for the interior layouts played a pivotal role in ensuring a guest focused narrative was achieved with high-quality finishes throughout.

Located next door, and accessed via a slender glazed link lobby, the newly built bespoke extension houses much needed staff amenities, a guest restaurant over two floors, and a series of multi-functional spaces for educational classes, community gatherings and social events complete with specialised IT facilities.

Feature glazing in the upper restaurant area provides stunning views over the site and out onto the Welsh mountains. The proposal respects its unique context externally by carefully utilising the site’s rich heritage and material palette.
