The hotel is set in the picturesque Snowdonia National Park with views out to Mount Snowdon, located in the breath-taking Gwynedd, North Wales.

Built on the former site of Ty Moelwyn Tax Office, which was demolished as part of the development, the 88-bedroom, timber framed hotel was provided with an internal fit out to Premier Inn’s turn-key specification.

With the layout requirements and constraints set, the challenge was to ensure everything was able to be accommodated. Kitchen, restaurant, and bar with a selection of accessible rooms on the ground floor, with all floors above having bedrooms and ancillary spaces.

Externally, the building utilised cracked slate cladding, render and cedar cladding to ensure that the building knitted into its surrounding context. The slate, approved by Snowdonia National Park for its use, neatly ties the building in with the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway station opposite the hotel. A large, glazed curtain wall provides the entrance to the hotel reception and restaurant area.
