This mixed-use development, forming the ‘Blue Zone’ redevelopment area of Macclesfield and District General Hospital, incorporated numerous historical NHS buildings that were dilapidated and unused by the hospital.

C4 Projects were commissioned on all developments over several years as Architect and Project Manager.

The various schemes on the site incorporated:

  • Conversion of Grade II listed clock tower building into 36 social housing apartments
  • Conversion of historic buildings into 36 keyworker accommodation apartments
  • 40,000 sqft new build sexual health clinic and office accommodation
  • 12,000 sqft new build office
  • 16 private residential dwellings 
  • Conversion and extension of existing building into Kids Allowed creche
  • Mixed use retail and residential three-storey building

C4 Projects accommodated the requirements of the listed building application for the clock tower refurbishment, and determined and accommodated all ‘listing by association’ on existing buildings in and around the clock tower curtilage.

As Employer’s Agent, and Project Manager, C4 worked closely with the client in coordinating all aspects of the delivery of a 40,000 sqft BREEAM Excellent office development occupied by the NHS for office and medical centre use.

We were further appointed as Employer’s Agent and Project Manager for the design and construction of a mixed use three storey building consisting of retail use to ground floor (Morrison’s Local and Subway) and 16 residential apartments to first and second floor levels.

C4 were also instructed by Keyworker Homes Ltd to oversee the construction of this mixed-use development in Macclesfield, comprising of retail space, office space, apartments, houses, and a crèche.
