A welcoming student hub combining café, social space and outdoor connection.

Following the relocation of Runshaw College’s main entrance in September 2024, the former circulation space within the Octagon is being repurposed as a vibrant social hub. C4 Projects was appointed to create a welcoming destination that supports everyday campus life, informal study and student connection.
Working closely with the estates team, the design maximises seating capacity, opens the café into a single open-plan space and prepares for future landscape integration so activity can extend outdoors.

Key priorities include retaining the existing café while improving accessibility through reconfigured circulation.
To inform the design process, C4 Projects delivered full Reality Capture services, producing a detailed virtual walkthrough and comprehensive asset plans.
These provide a robust digital foundation for a scheme that responds to the college’s aspirations while remaining practical, inclusive and adaptable for future needs.
